TR with its limited resources has been supporting two of its in-house initiatives since 2005.

I.          Women & Politics in Asia Forum (WPAF):

WPAF is TR managed set up which is an outcome of the international conferences held on the topic.  TR consolidated the out put and academic work of three conferences, 2003 at Halmstad-Sweden, 2004 at Colombo-Sri Lanka and 2005 at Islamabad, Pakistan, and launched it as a Forum in 2005 with a website ( It aims to explore “Gender face of politics in Asia” besides being a platform for capacity building, knowledge exchange and documentation ware house on the Asian region. It offers a network/database of over 100 international scholars, academics and practitioners and their work – 75 academic papers. WPAF has facilitated publication of three books i.e. one out of NIAS, Sweden, second from India and third under publication with Oxford Press.

TR houses and manage WPAF secretariat in Pakistan. TR has worked on its regional expansion by having 3 country chapters with Korean Institute for Women in Politics (KIWP, King Parjadhipok’s Institute (KPI) and Democracy Watch (DW) in South Korea, Thailand and Bangladeshrespectively. WPAF has a signed MOU with them for collaborative and comparative research. It aims to link up to women Parliamentarian of the region for their political strengthening, starting from Pakistan, as their voluntary resource and research centre for technical support.

II.         Pakistan Governance Forum (PGF):

TR launched “Pakistan Governance Forum (PGF)” to contribute its share for improved good governance in Pakistan for democratic and institutional strengthening and research based policy formulation which links up State to community level stake holders.

PGF’s objectives include provision of (a) consolidated information, (b) interactive dialogue between policy makers & legislators (c) policy research and recommendation from grass root level (d) research and policy output for media for transparency, accountability and informed policy-making
The need for the same was identified through extensive community dialogues. TR since 2006 is publishing a monthly E-newsletter focusing Democracy, Gender, Human Rights, Governance and Geo-Political. At present it offers consolidated media digest on the identified sectors and aims to undertake crisp policy research/analysis with stakeholder feed back.

III.        Internally Displaced Persons (IDP)

TR & TCR initiated the fact find and update on the IDP issues in Pakistan. It compiled and analysed secondary data available from range of sources to identify gaps and recommend way forward.  Since the data flow on the subject is drying up hence it will be part of PGF report.  The reports highlighted the women focused issues as well

IV.        Food insecurity (pipeline)

This topic will be taken forward soon to prepare situation analysis and policy comments for wider circulation among stakeholders.
